North Goa – photos from hippie paradise

Goa is the smallest state in India. It used to be a Portuguese colony bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north and by Karnataka to the south-east. Visited by hundred of thousand people from all over the world, mainly Russians and British citizens. Sun chasers come not only to visit this place to relax on exotic beaches of Arabian Sea, but also to experience a true hippie paradise…

Highly developed tourists destination and being ruled by Portuguese for over 400 years made this place to completely different from the rest of India. Wealthiest state of India, with Portuguese architecture and over 27% of population are Christians. The state is divided into two districts: North Goa and South Goa. We stayed somewhere between Arambol Beach and Kolacha Beach known as a Cliff Side – peaceful corner of the rocky coast. Arambol Beach is a magnet for Hippies, Yogis and…marihuana enthusiasts. It can be purchased in every corner and is very cheap. Even guy who showed us a room to rent offered us to stockpile some weed. We had to say „no, thank you” and he looked surprised that we didn’t want to buy some marihuana. It felt like we were the only one not interested in buying it.
